The Denver Broncos have had four primary logos in their history, including the current mark that was created in 1997. The team has also worn five primary uniform sets, with several combinations and minor variances through the years.
1960-1961
The founding owners of the new team opted to suit players in second-hand uniforms to save money. The home combination — a mustard-yellow jersey with brown numbers and no name block, brown pants with mustard-yellow double stripes, and brown and yellow vertically striped socks — was so hated that a public bonfire was held by the team in front of a cheering crowd to burn the uniforms.
1962-1964
The beginning of orange and blue officially started on Sept. 7, 1962, at the direction of new Head Coach Jack Faulkner. He ordered a home jersey he assumed would be burnt orange — roughly the color of the Cleveland Browns' uniforms. What the team got instead was a bright orange jersey with white numbers — easy to spot on television — and three white sleeve cuff stripes.
1965-1966
The home jersey saw more blue introduced into the team's look. Blue was added to the shoulder cuffs, sleeves, number outlines and socks, while a white collar was added to the bright orange base.
1967-1996
The home jersey got a complete refresh with a different shade of orange. In 1968, following a single season in plain blue helmets, the Broncos debuted the iconic "D" logo on the sides of the helmets. That logo remained the team's primary mark until the team's branding changed in 1997.
1997-2023
The Broncos' entire look underwent a radical change with groundbreaking new uniforms and a modernized logo. The new home jersey included a navy base with an orange collar worn with white pants. An alternate orange jersey was introduced, and that look became the team's primary home uniform beginning in 2012. The revamped logo featured an untamed white horse on the
helmet sides.
