Sir Lewis Hamilton is in his third season as an owner of the Denver Broncos in 2024 as part of the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group.
A fierce advocate for global equality and seven-time World Champion, Hamilton is considered the most successful Formula One driver of all time. In addition to his record-tying seven World Championships, he holds F1 career marks for wins, pole positions and podium finishes.
Currently competing for Mercedes-Benz, Hamilton finished either first or second in eight of his first nine seasons racing with the team. This includes an unprecedented six World Championships in a seven-year span from 2014-20.
Hamilton made his F1 debut in 2007 with McLaren and turned in one of the most remarkable rookie performances in history, finishing as runner-up in the World Drivers' Championship by a single point. A year later, he became the then-youngest Formula One World Champion in history after totaling five victories and 10 podium finishes.
In addition to his dominance on the racetrack, Hamilton has also become a prominent advocate in support of activism to combat racism and push for increased diversity in motorsport.
Named one of TIME magazine's "100 most influential people in the world" in 2020, Hamilton also was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the 2021 Laureus Athlete Advocate of the Year Award for his involvement in the fight against racism.
In June 2020, he established the Hamilton Commission with the Royal Academy of Engineering to find ways in which motorsport can engage more youth from Black backgrounds. The partnership provides opportunities to employ candidates in motorsport as well as throughout the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Building on the recommendations of the Hamilton Commission, he launched Mission 44, a charitable foundation created to empower youth from underserved communities and help achieve their ambitions in wider society. Specifically, the foundation supports organizations and programs that narrow the gap in employment and education.
Born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England, Hamilton was knighted by the Prince of Wales in the 2021 New Year Honours for his services to motorsport. He became just the fourth grand prix driver to be knighted and the first to be awarded the honor while still competing.
Hamilton has maintained a residence in Colorado for many years, spending time in the state during the winter months and racing offseason.
