Keith Bishop enters his 11th season as Vice President of Security for the Denver Broncos. A former offensive lineman for the Broncos from 1980-89, Bishop oversees the team's entire security group comprised of current and retired Colorado law enforcement personnel.
Bishop maintains working relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement as well as fire departments, emergency response personnel, military and the intelligence community to help safeguard the organization and enhance security training opportunities.
Prior to joining the Broncos' front office in 2012, Bishop worked in federal law enforcement as a Special Agent for the United States Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for 20 years.
Upon graduation from the DEA Training Academy in 1992, Bishop was assigned duty stations as a DEA Special Agent at the DEA Dallas Field Division Office (1992-2000), as a DEA Staff Coordinator Southwest Border Section at the DEA Special Operations Division (SOD) in Chantilly, Va. (2000-2003), as a DEA Group Supervisor at the DEA Houston Field Division Office (2003-2008), and as the DEA Assistant Regional Director/Assistant Special Agent in Charge and Country Attache at the DEA Southwest Asia Region Office (Afghanistan/Pakistan) in Kabul, Afghanistan (2008-2012).
Bishop focused his investigations primarily on long-term, complex, multi-jurisdictional, international, narcotics and money laundering investigations using court-authorized Title III communication intercepts and confidential informants to target, collect evidence from and prosecute major international drug trafficking organizations.
He received the DEA Administrator's Award three times during his federal law enforcement career (1997, 2002, '08) and was selected by the International Association of Chiefs of Police as one of the nation's top police officers.
Raised in Midland, Texas, Bishop played football at the University of Nebraska (1975-77) and Baylor University (1977-79). He was selected by the Broncos in the sixth round (157th overall) of the 1980 NFL Draft and played 10 seasons with the club. A seven-year captain, Bishop made two Pro Bowls (1986-87) and was named to the Denver Broncos 50th Anniversary Team.
