Beau Lowery enters his second year as vice president of player health & performance for the Denver Broncos in 2024. He was hired by the club on Feb. 24, 2023.
A 26-year professional in the field of performance and enhancement, Lowery joined the Broncos after spending nearly two years as director of sports medicine for Louisiana State University. His two-year stint with LSU athletics followed a nine-year run with the New Orleans Saints from 2012-21.
Lowery's program made an immediate impact, as the Broncos ranked second in the NFL with 32 injuries that resulted in missed time in the regular season. With the improvement on injuries in 2023, Denver posted their best mark since the 2016 season with an 8-9 record, including going 3-3 against AFC West foes.
As director of sports medicine for LSU, Lowery was responsible for developing, coordinating and administering a comprehensive sports medicine program for all athletic teams while also serving as head athletic trainer for football. Additionally, he served as the liaison for LSU athletics to physicians and the medical community.
Prior to LSU, Lowery spent a decade with the Saints, performing a variety of roles during his tenure. He worked as an assistant athletic trainer/physical therapist (2011-14) before being promoted to director of rehabilitation (2015-16) and director of sports medicine (2017-20).
Lowery joined the Saints after working for the Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic for two years, where he served as a physical therapist/athletic trainer while also helping to establish Traction Elite Physical Therapy in Baton Rouge, La.
Preceding his time with the Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic, Lowery worked as a graduate assistant and associate athletic trainer/physical therapist for LSU from 2004-10. As a graduate assistant (2004-05), Lowery worked exclusively with women's soccer and the gymnastics program while earning his master's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in motor behavior.
From 2006-10, Lowery primarily worked as the physical therapist and athletic trainer for the Tigers' baseball, men's golf and cheerleading teams. He also served as an adjunct professor at LSU for six years.
Lowery earned his undergraduate degree in physical therapy from the University of Mississippi in 1998. Following graduation, Lowery worked as a physical therapist at South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel, Miss.
While working in Laurel, Lowery finished his athletic training internship at Jones County Junior College and Jones County High School in 2000. He then became the outpatient physical therapy coordinator of South Central Regional Medical Center and the athletic trainer for Laurel High School.
A native of Seminary, Miss., Lowery received a doctorate of physical therapy from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2013. He is a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer and is also board certified in sports physical therapy.
