Five Key Matchups: Divisional Round
Take a look at five key matchups for the Divisional Round matchup between the Broncos and the Chargers.
As was key every week during the regular season, quarterback Peyton Manning's performance can dictate the outcome of the game. In the Week 15 meeting between these two teams Manning threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns but the Chargers also registered an interception.
Shaun Phillips and Philip Rivers were both drafted by the Chargers in the same year and were teammates until this season. In their two meetings this year, Phillips sacked Rivers once in each game. He'll be looking to continue that streak Sunday.
In the Week 15 matchup, running back Ryan Matthews ran for 127 yards on 29 attempts and scored a touchdown. He is the only player to rush for more than 100 yards against the Broncos this season. Linebacker Danny Trevathan will be looking to prevent a repeat.
Chargers receiver Keenan Allen has come on strong towards the end of the season and had two touchdowns against the Broncos in the last meeting. The Broncos secondary will be looking to continue him this time around.
The Broncos 13-3 regular season record earned them the right to play at home in this Divisional Round matchup. The fans and the altitude will be on their side.
