ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- **The 40th anniversary of the NFL's partnership with the United Way calls for a celebration of the dynamic impacts made and opportunities created in communities across America as a result of the two organizations pairing together.
And it also calls for a celebration of all the great public service announcements (PSAs) featuring NFL players, coaches and club executives – more than 800 have appeared in them over the years – that have popped up on television screens across the country since the NFL's partnership with the United Way began in 1973.
Over the next four weeks, fans will have the chance to take a long stroll down memory lane and vote on their all-time favorite PSA ads – the United Way and the NFL teamed with USA Today Sports Media Group to make the contest possible – including one featuring Hall of Fame running back and Broncos legend Floyd Little.
In the spirit of 'Throwback Thursday,' fans can make the ultimate throwback by going to nflunitedway40.usatoday.com, watching and voting for their favorites – such as Little's ad, which can also be viewed in the video player at the top of this page.
Hundreds of PSAs have been narrowed down to a field of 40, and fans will have a chance to vote on their favorites by rating each ad on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being the best). Voting will conclude on Nov. 19, and then the top 40 ads will be revealed by decade over a four-week period.
The top 10 ads will be featured on NFL.com and the winning ad will be announced on Dec. 15.
Hairstyles have changed, clothing styles have changed, technology has changed, but the NFL and United Way PSA ads have remained superb through the years – and now it's your chance to crown one as the all-time greatest.
Take a minute to vote for your favorites, like Little’s, and help celebrate a longstanding partnership that has made a difference in communities around the country.
