ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was named AFC Defensive Player of the Month for September, the National Football League informed the Broncos on Thursday.
This represents the third such honor of Miller's career, passing former cornerback Champ Bailey for the most in team history. It also marks the 11th total conference defensive player of the month recognition for a Bronco since the award was initiated in 1986.
Miller, who leads the NFL with five sacks through three games, helped Denver to a 3-0 record in September while also accounting for 12 tackles (9 solo), three tackles for a loss, six quarterback hits, one pass defensed and one forced fumble.
He was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Indianapolis in Week 2 in which he totaled three quarterback takedowns, including a strip-sack with less than two minutes remaining that led to a Denver touchdown and sealed the game.
