ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – A day after Todd Davis exited the Broncos' training camp practice on a cart with a calf injury, Head Coach Vic Fangio said the injury was not as significant as the one he suffered in 2019.
"I think Todd will miss at least a week, and after that we'll see how it goes," Fangio said Friday. "It's not the same calf he had last year, nor is it as serious as the one he had last year."
In 2019, Davis suffered a calf injury on the first day of training camp and missed more than two months of action. He didn't return to game action until Week 3 against the Packers.
Davis missed Friday's practice, as did Von Miller (elbow), Melvin Gordon III (ribs), KJ Hamler (hamstring), Nick Vannett (concussion), Juwann Winfree (groin) and Austin Fort (knee).
Miller, Gordon and Vannett all observed Friday's practice, while Winfree worked to the side with trainers.
Fangio said Miller and Gordon — who both exited practice early on Thursday – were considered day to day with the injuries. Fangio does not expect either player to miss much time.
Tackle Elijah Wilkinson was the only potential new addition to the team's injury list, as he was pulled out of team drills after rolling his ankle. Fangio said he thinks Wilkinson will be OK, and Wilkinson confirmed that evaluation.
"My ankle's fine," Wilkinson said. "Just a quick roll. Everything's fine. Walked it off. [The team] just kind of pulled me [out of team period]. No reason to aggravate it any more, but everything's fine. We got tangled up a little bit but everything's cool."
The ankle was not the one he had surgically repaired this offseason.
