After I tore my Achilles, I told myself, one of two things is going to happen: Either you're going to attack it positively, or you're going to attack it negatively.
I pretty much told myself that I'm going to handle it in a positive manner. I said that every day I went into the training room: I'm going to give it my all and, every single day, I'm going to give it 100 percent and let the day stack up and see where it falls.
Each day, I kept getting better and better, so I climbed out of that hole.
It's a situation where I really don't think about it as much as other people think about it. Obviously, you expect yourself to come back, you expect so much out of yourself. A lot of people get emotional because they didn't expect themselves to come back, but I always knew that I was going to work myself back because you've got to stay positive through all this stuff.
You have to stay positive and even-keel. You have to. That's just a good lesson for life in general. This is my 10th season, so you have your fair share of wins and your fair share of losses. But at the end of the day, you have to treat them all the same.
It's not my first rodeo. Obviously, you want to win, but you've got to prepare for the losses as well. You kind of prepare yourself to say, OK, we can be 2-0 or we can be 0-2. Who knows how the season will go?
You've got to take the highs with the lows, and the lows with the highs. That's how I treat it, saying, Yeah, we lost, we're 0-2 right now, but something is going to come for us. A high is going to come here soon, or we're going to get a win. That keeps me going.
I love football. I love Sundays and seeing the crowd roar and going against a different opponent, trying to dominate my opponent and showcase the skills that God gave me.
One thing that happens in the game of football is you find out who really loves it and who doesn't once they start getting that contract and that money. I really do love this game and I'm passionate about it and I hope that it shows.
And at the end of the day, we can still attain everything we want to attain, so there's no reason we should give up on that and say, Oh, we're 0-2, so the season is over. I'm going to keep doing what I have to do. I'm going to keep playing ball.
You can't be negative. You have to take everything with positivity and keep chugging along and keep working.
