ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Safety Su'a Cravens joined tight end Jeff Heuerman in the training room Wednesday as both players battle soreness in their knees.
Head Coach Vance Joseph said Wednesday he was not concerned about either player's long-term availability.
"It's really the same exact injury for both of those guys," Joseph said. "We're just being smart. It's early in training camp. You can bring them back and push those guys through those injuries and have a setback and lose them for Week 1. We can't afford to do that. So we're being smart with the injuries. Obviously it's early. We've got plenty of camp left, so we'll get him back in due time."
Heuerman has not practiced since Sunday afternoon's walkthrough.
"He wants to be out here and he's working hard with 'Greek' [Director of Sports Medicine Steve Antonopulos] and those guys to get better," Jospeh said.
Other Wednesday availability news:
· Domata Peko Sr. received the team's first "vet day" of training camp. Peko took part in individual drills, but he sat out team drills.
· Jake Butt did not participate in team drills on Wednesday.
"We're just being smart again with his body so we can make it through the long haul," Joseph said. "Very simple."
· Cornerback Marcus Rios returned to practice.
· Cornerback Tramaine Brock, linebacker Josey Jewell, wide receiver Corey "Philly" Brown and wide receiver Kenny Bell all missed practice
