ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos' rookie quarterback has put himself in rare company.
Quarterback Bo Nix has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week following a win over the Chiefs, making him the first Bronco since Peyton Manning in 2013 to win the award multiple times in a single season.
Nix is just the fifth Bronco in franchise history to earn AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors multiple times in a season, and he and running back Mike Anderson are the lone Broncos to accomplish that feat as rookies.
The fifth Broncos quarterback to earn the honor multiple times, Nix also earned AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors after a Week 11 performance against the Falcons.
According to Pro Football Reference, Nix joins C.J. Stroud, Marcus Mariota and Robert Griffin III as the only rookie quarterbacks — in either conference — to be named Offensive Player of the Week multiple times, dating back to the start of the award in 1984. Both Stroud and Griffin were named Offensive Rookie of the Year following their respective seasons.
In a playoff-clinching win over the Chiefs, Nix completed 26-of-29 passes for 321 yards, four touchdowns, no interceptions and a 152.4 quarterback rating. He also carried the ball seven times for 47 yards and was not sacked. Nix completed his first 18 passes of the game, setting franchise and NFL rookie records for the most completions to begin a contest.
Nix became the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to post multiple games with at least 300 passing yards, four passing touchdowns and a passer rating of at least 140. He also now holds the rookie record for the most games with 200 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and no interceptions.
In his rookie season, Nix completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, 12 interceptions and a 93.3 passer rating. His 29 passing touchdowns are the second most in NFL history by a rookie, and the total is also the most in a season by any Broncos quarterback other than Peyton Manning.
Five Broncos combined to win seven Player of the Week honors during the 2024 regular season, as kicker Wil Lutz (Weeks 3 and 12), cornerback Pat Surtain II (Week 5), inside linebacker Cody Barton (Week 7) and returner Marvin Mims Jr. (Week 15) joined Nix (Weeks 11 and 18) in receiving the honor.
The Broncos' seven Player of the Week honors are the franchise's most since 2013, when the organization totaled eight such awards.
