ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —Tackle Ja'Wuan James practiced in a full capacity on Wednesday ahead of the Broncos' game against the Colts.
James hadn't been a full participant in practice since before the Broncos' Week 1 against Oakland. He exited the season opener in the second quarter with a knee injury.
Head Coach Vic Fangio said James will "probably" play against Indianapolis.
"The one thing about Ja'Wuan you have to remember [is] he was out six weeks and because it was a knee injury, he's not in the best of shape right now," Fangio said. "I don't know that it's realistic that he can go out there and play 65, 70 plays. We'll probably play all three of those tackles at some point."
Fangio said cornerback Bryce Callahan is "progressing" as he returns from a foot injury but said it is "definitely possible" that Callahan will not play this season.
"Obviously, he's not progressing enough to where you'll see him out here running, but it wasn't planned to be," Fangio said. "From the day he got it, we knew it was going to be — four to six [weeks] is what we told you. It was really closer to six than four. He's another guy, even if it does him well and he can play, the conditioning level is a factor."
Fangio also announced that none of the Broncos' players on injured reserve would return to practice this week. Wide receiver Tim Patrick, quarterback Drew Lock, running back Theo Riddick and tight end Jake Butt are eligible to begin the two-week practice window. The Broncos can choose two players to return from injured reserve to the active roster.
"We just want to get a little bit more information," Fangio said. "We've got, I believe, four of them out there and you can bring two back through designation, so we're just looking to get more information. None of them are ready to play right now. We're just trying to postpone that as much as possible."
President of Football Operations/President John Elway said he expected Patrick to return at some point after the Broncos' Week 10 bye. Fangio said he expects Patrick will be available to practice ahead of the Broncos' Week 9 game against the Browns.
