ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --In the offseason, Sports Authority Field at Mile High was upgraded to the tune of $30 million in enhancements.

This week, the Broncos will break ground on another significant facility expansion and renovation -- this time at their Dove Valley headquarters.

The investment is designed to ensure that the team's daily facilities will be among the best in all of professional sports -- and it is being funded by the Broncos and Owner/CEO Pat Bowlen.

The two-part project will include a new indoor field house in addition to major upgrades to the extending Paul D. Bowlen Memorial Broncos Centre, which was built in 1990. Groundbreaking for the indoor facility will begin Tuesday, while the modifications to the existing building will begin at the conclusion of the 2013 season.

The field house will be 85,000 square feet and include a 30,000 square-foot support space, all of which will be built to the west of the current practice fields. The full-length football field, locker room and football service area will be accompanied by features including meeting spaces, a Broncos retail outlet and a video production room.

The new field house will provide the team with a year-round venue for training regardless of the elements, and starting in 2015 will enhance the training camp experience for fans, including a larger public seating area, additional parking and improved restroom facilities.

The upgrades to the current facility will be based around expanding the building on the north end and renovating the lobby, media room and other existing infastructure on the south side.

There will also be new offices and workspaces in addition to more than 3,000 square feet of additional conference space on the south end of the building.

Included in the expansion on the north side will be a new commercial kitchen and cafeteria as well as new video operations and football technology offices.

Les Wells of The Wells Partnership is serving as the Owners Representative Company for the entire project, with Saunders Construction, Inc., being utilized as the contractor. The field house was designed by Sink Combs Dethlefs, a firm that specializes in sports architecture. The facility renovations were planned by Intergroup Architects.
