ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- On Saturday, the Broncos released quarterback Caleb Hanie and signed defensive tackle Sealver Siliga to the active roster.
Siliga, who was signed to the team's practice squad the day after the roster was cut down to 53 players, impressed during OTAs and minicamp. He notched six tackles and a sack in the preseason.
A first-year defensive tackle, Siliga spent time on Denver's practice squad as a rookie in 2011 after originally signing with the San Francisco 49ers as a college free agent.
Hanie completed 22 of his 39 passes during the preseason for 246 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He was signed as a free agent on March 25.
The move leaves the Broncos with two quarterbacks on the roster for Sunday's game, and means rookie signal caller Brock Osweiler will serve as Peyton Manning's backup against the Steelers.
