Domata Peko Sr. nominated for 2018 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award

Though Domata Peko Sr. may seem like an intimidating figure on the football field at the center of the Broncos' defensive line, there may be no other NFL player who plays with as much respect for everyone around him.

For that spirit, the NFL announced that Peko is the Broncos' nominee for the 2018 Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award, which honors NFL players who showcase "the qualities of on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition."

NFL teams each select one nominee for the award, which was created in 2014 and named after the Pittsburgh Steelers' founder, Art Rooney Sr.

The winner will be revealed at NFL Honors before Super Bowl LIII after a group of former players from the NFL Legends Community picks eight finalists (four from each conference) from the 32 nominees. Current NFL players will select the winner in a vote conducted on Dec. 14 when players vote for the Pro Bowl.

Previous winners include Panthers LB Luke Kuechly (2017), former Colts RB Frank Gore (2016), former Raiders CB Charles Woodson (2015) and Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (2014).
