DeMarcus Ware, Kayvon Webster headed to IR

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware will have season-ending back surgery and be placed on injured reserve.

The six-time Pro Bowler played in 10 games this season and recorded four sacks. Ware also battled a forearm injury that he suffered in Week 2 against the Colts. He missed five weeks with the injury before returning against the Raiders in Week 9.

The 12-year veteran has 138.5 career sacks and sits just 3.5 sacks away from passing Michael Strahan for sixth on the all-time sack list and 5.5 away from passing Julius Peppers for fifth all time.

Cornerback and special teams player Kayvon Webster will also head to IR after he suffered a concussion against Kansas City on Sunday. Webster was down on the field for several minutes after a Kansas City player contacted Webster's head with his helmet on a block.

He was eventually able to stand and was helped to the front seat of a cart. Webster was then diagnosed with a concussion and declared out.

In a corresponding set of roster moves, the Broncos elevated nose tackle Kyle Peko and cornerback Taurean Nixon to the active roster.
