DBC & Freddy's kick off Cheer for the Troops

AURORA, Colo**. — For the second year the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers are partnering with Colorado Supporting Our Troops to collect food and goods for military members serving overseas.

On Saturday, the cheerleaders spent time at Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers in Aurora to kick off their Cheer for the Troops campaign. The event, which lasts through early December, helps provide food and goods to military members who serve overseas.

"It's so important," said Denver Broncos Cheerleader Gioia. "You can't even express enough gratitude for them and what they do for our country. Just collecting these donations unifies Broncos Country together and it just shows a simple token of our appreciation."

Saturday was the first of three events the cheerleaders and Miles will attend until early December. Freddy's, an organization owned by a former veteran and Purple Heart recipient, finds that serving the military is important.

"At Freddy's we're very military-focused," said Brian Pyle, the Colorado franchise owner of Freddy's. "So when the Broncos came to us with the idea of a partnership, it was a no-brainer."

Fans are encouraged to stop by and donate items at any of the 13 Freddy's locations throughout the Denver area. The organization is looking for basic necessities, like hygiene products and food, but is also looking to collect things that can be gifted during the holiday season.

For the second year, the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers are partnered with Colorado Supporting our Troops to collect food and goods for military members serving overseas.

"Last year we were able to ship over 400 care packages of items that Freddy's and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders and junior cheerleaders collected," said Lainey Hamrick, who operates Colorado Supporting Our Troops. "This is such a fun event and it really raises the morale when we get to send photos and cards from the Junior Cheerleaders. Our heroes know we are thinking of them and have their backs."

The partnership with Freddy's and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders has allowed this cause to reach more people in the Denver community.

"Being a Denver Broncos fan myself, when you can attach your name to the Broncos and the cheerleaders I think it just provides an opportunity for more awareness than Freddy's by itself," said Pyle.
