ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- **Denver finally knows its opponent for the Divisional Round of the playoffs. And it's a familiar one.
Next Sunday at 2:40 p.m. MST, the Broncos will face the AFC West-rival San Diego Chargers at Sports Authority Field at Mile High for a chance to play in the AFC Championship Game.
It will be the third time the two teams have squared off this season. They split the regular-season series.
The Broncos are the No. 1 seed in the AFC, so they face the lowest remaining seed in the Divisional Round. When the No. 6 seed Chargers upset the No. 3 seed Cincinnati Bengals Sunday afternoon, it locked in San Diego as Denver's opponent.
The other AFC game next weekend comes in New England -- the No. 2 seed Patriots will take on the No. 4 seed Indianapolis Colts.
San Diego provided one of Denver's three regular-season losses in 2013, a 27-20 defeat in Week 15 that players predicted would be a "wake-up call" for the team. Denver closed the regular season with two wins by a combined margin of 71-27.
Next Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High will mark the two AFC West rivals' first-ever matchup in the postseason.
