Broncos Practice Update: Darian Stewart, Chris Harris Jr. return

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --As they and the Broncos hoped, safety Darian Stewart and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. returned to the practice field Wednesday as they continued their preparations for Sunday's divisional-round showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Neither practiced last week because of injuries suffered or aggravated in the regular-season finale against the Chargers. An issue with scar tissue from his previous hamstring injury sent Stewart to the sideline, while Harris spent the bye week working on rehabilitation from a shoulder injury he suffered against the Chargers.

"They looked fine," Head Coach Gary Kubiak said. "They were somewhat limited in what they did, but they looked fine, and we'll pick up the pace [Thursday] with them. I think as long as they stay the course, we'll be okay."

Harris and Stewart saw limited work Wednesday, along with OLB DeMarcus Ware (knee).

Quarterback Brock Osweiler was at practice Wednesday, two days after he returned to the field after getting last week off to recover from various injuries. However, his throwing was limited to the warm-up period; when the Broncos went into individual work, he jogged over to Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Richesson for additional training and flexibility work while the other quarterbacks worked on dropbacks.

"He's still sore," Kubiak said. "He came out for the walk-through pretty sore, so we held him [back]. I think tomorrow I expect him to get back to work. I feel good about him."

Osweiler was listed as one of three Broncos who did not practice Wednesday. Also sitting out were OLB Von Miller and guard Robert Myers; both were sent home because of illness. DE Malik Jackson also left practice early and was sent home because of an illness.

"We just have to keep an eye on it for the next couple of days," Kubiak said.
