ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With their first pick on the final day of the draft, the Broncos bolstered their secondary.

At pick No. 101 overall in the fourth round, Denver selected Arizona State cornerback Omar Bolden.

"In the fourth round, Denver gets a second-round talent," NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said on the network's draft broadcast.

Bolden did not play last season due to an ACL injury, but was still named a team captain, and earned Hard Hat award for his work in the team's offseason strength and conditioning program.

In his career, the 5-foot-10, 202-pound cornerback amassed 138 total tackles, five tackles for loss, 21 pass breakups and seven interceptions.

In addition, he accumulated 523 return yards, including two touchdowns -- one of which was a 97-yarder in 2010.

"I love that (pick)," Mayock said "He's a tough kid who will tackle, he will return kicks, there's value in the return game -- ultimately he could end up a starting cornerback in this league."

"When this kid's healthy, he's significant."

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Bolden said he is back to healthy, and couldn't wait to prove it. He led all defensive backs at the combine with 24 reps on the bench press.

"He's a physical cornerback with good cover skills who fits the mentality of our defense," Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway tweeted.

In 2010, Bolden was one of only four unanimous selections to the All-Pac-10 First-Team, chosen by the conference's coaches.

The four-year starter for the Sun Devils appeared in 41 games in his career.

Denver's next selection comes at No. 108 overall in the fourth round.
