Broncos' first-round draft slot finalized

DENVER —The Broncos will pick 20th in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft when it begins on April 27 in Philadelphia.

The pick will be Denver's highest first-round selection since they chose Von Miller with the second-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

The Broncos, one of three non-playoff teams with nine wins, will have the lowest draft pick of those already decided. Selections 21-32 will be decided as the playoffs progress.

Denver has selected a defensive player with its top pick in four of the last five drafts in which the team held a first-round pick. In 2016, however, the Broncos traded up to select quarterback Paxton Lynch with the 26th-overall pick.

The 2017 NFL Draft will be the Broncos' seventh under Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway.

The Draft will span April 27-29. After the first round concludes on the 27th, the second and third rounds will be held on April 28. The 2017 NFL Draft will conclude April 29 with rounds 4-7.
