ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos have elevated three players as COVID-19 Replacements from their practice squad to the game-day roster, the team announced Saturday.
Tight end Troy Fumagalli, linebacker Josh Watson and safety Alijah Holder will be elevated for Sunday's game against the Saints.
An NFL rule permits teams to elevate a player from the practice squad to game-day roster for each player the team has on its Reserve/COVID-19 list. The Broncos currently have three players on that list, as quarterback Jeff Driskel and wide receiver Diontae Spencer were placed on the list this week and defensive end Shelby Harris remains on the list.
After the game, Fumagalli, Watson and Holder will be able to revert to the practice squad without having to clear waivers.
Fumagalli will join Noah Fant and Nick Vannett at tight end on the team's game-day roster, while Holder could provide depth with Trey Marshall ruled out for the game. Holder played several defensive snaps in the team's dime package — a personnel grouping with six defensive backs — against the Dolphins. Watson, meanwhile, has been a key special teams contributor in the four games in which he's appeared this season.
