Talk to people around the league, talk to folks with the Denver Broncos, and the general consensus is wide receiver Courtland Sutton is close, as in oh-so-close, to chasing down the expectations that swirl around him.

For an offense that hasn't topped 16 points in its last seven games, that would be a welcome sight. At 6- foot-4 and 215 pounds, with quality speed to go with some run-after-the-catch skills, Sutton has spent much of the time since the Broncos drafted him in the second round of 2018 on the edge of big things.

"He's in that mode. We are all excited about what he can do this weekend. I know he has that extra chip on his shoulder with a lot of people talking bad about him and saying he's washed up," outside linebacker Bradley Chubb told Denver7. "I think he's going to go out there and prove it."

Added linebacker Todd Davis, "He's focused. That's what I see. I don't think he's down."

After Kareem Jackson missed his second consecutive day of practice on Thursday, it appears the Broncos may be marching toward their Week 4 matchup against the Jaguars without the two players who were expected to reshape their secondary.

Andrew Wingard is preparing for the emotions he's sure to feel Sunday.

The rookie Jaguars safety began his football journey at Ralston Valley High School, and on Sunday he will run out from the visitors' tunnel onto Empower Field at Mile High to face the Broncos. Wingard, an Arvada native who starred collegiately at Wyoming, has filled 22 ticket requests for friends and family with a "whole bunch" of others buying their own seats.
