ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --In need of reinforcements at running back, the Broncos were awarded Justin Forsett off waivers after the Detroit Lions parted ways with him Saturday.

To clear a space on the 53-man roster for Forsett, the Broncos placed Kapri Bibbs on injured reserve because of the high ankle sprain he suffered Sunday. Bibbs was in a walking boot Monday.

Bibbs joins starter C.J. Anderson on injured reserve; Anderson has been out since Week 8 because of torn meniscus.

Forsett has a background in Head Coach Gary Kubiak's offense, having played for him in Houston in 2012 and Baltimore in 2014. Forsett's career year came in 2014 under Kubiak, who served as Baltimore's offensive coordinator; in that season, he posted career highs in rushing yardage (1,266) and touchdowns (eight).

A nine-year veteran, Forsett's per-carry average is 1.1 yards higher in Kubiak's offenses (5.5) than in all other schemes (4.4).

The 31-year-old Forsett has also played for the Colts, Seahawks and Jaguars during his career.
