Keenum and King each had to pick numbers they had never worn before because of their affinity for the number seven, which is of course retired in Denver for John Elway.
King joked during his introductory conference call that he'd try to get Elway something to convince him to let him wear it, but he had a feeling he'd have to select a new number.
"I've got to take him out to a nice steak dinner, but I don't think that's going to work," King said on April 5. "I was thinking about getting him a helicopter or something — a big gift. But I don't think he's going to give that '7' up."
