2024 Dynamic In and Out of School Programming Grant Recipients

Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver: The Denver Broncos Boys & Girls Club has been serving youth ages 5-18 in the Montbello community since 2003, supporting more than 14,500 youth since its inception. Funding to underwrite operational funding and provide unique opportunities in each of the Club's programming areas, additional skill development and training, volunteer projects, field trips, and incentives for meeting individual and Club goals.

City Year Denver: City Year Denver believes that a child's potential is limitless, but recognizes that funding constraints, generational poverty, and systemic racism all contribute to the equity gaps present in our public schools. Funding to underwrite programming at Compass Academy and support AmeriCorps members throughout their year of service.

Colorado Uplift: Colorado UpLift's mission is to build long-term, life-changing relationships with urban youth, equipping them to thrive and contribute to their community. Funding to expand out-of-school year-round programming at Lake Middle School.

Heart of America Foundation: The Heart of America Foundation transforms learning spaces, bridges the resource gap and strengthens communities to give all students room to dream, discover and thrive. Funding to increase youth literacy through library renovation at Ashley Elementary School.

KABOOM!: KABOOM! is a national nonprofit dedicated to ending playspace inequity, defined as a lack of access to, and a sense of belonging in, quality playspaces due to the effects of systemic racism in communities across the country. Funding to underwrite a 2,500 square-foot playground for youth ages 5-11 at Montview Elementary School (Aurora Public Schools) that includes adaptive equipment for children of all abilities.

Make a Chess Move: Make a Chess Move disrupts the school-to-prison pipeline by developing tenacious learners, compassionate leaders, and ethnically driven critical thinkers through the game of chess. Funding to expand and support Make a Compassion Move programming focused on youth who are suspended or on probation.

Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center: The Marvin W. Foote Youth Services Center is a secure, state-operated facility that provides detention services, education, and rehabilitative programs for youth involved in the juvenile justice system. Funding to support the refurbishment of the facility's outdoor recreation courtyard.

Out Teach: Out Teach is a nonprofit organization that equips teachers with the tools and training to transform outdoor spaces into engaging, hands-on learning environments for students, fostering academic achievement and a connection to nature. Funding to underwrite the first Outdoor Learning Lab on a Colorado Title I school campus and enhance engagement through a hands-on, outdoor science education lab and program for elementary students.

Playworks Colorado: Playworks' mission is to improve the health and well-being of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play. Funding to provide Playworks programming in Aurora Public Schools elementary schools to help build healthy and inclusive school communities.

Reading Partners CO: Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. Funding to underwrite an additional Title I School (Ashley Elementary School) to receive individualized intervention services for high-need students who have fallen behind grade-level reading for three consecutive school years.

RISE: RISE is a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, champion social justice and improve race relations. Funding to underwrite RISE's 8-week leadership program for Denver-area youth.

Scholastic Book Fairs: Scholastic is the world's largest publisher and distributor of children's books, connecting educators and families through accessibility, engagement, and expertise. Funding to host book fairs and provide access to books and increased literacy for students in schools that have never hosted a Scholastic Book Fair.

Science of Sport: Science of Sport develops an interdisciplinary STEM curriculum and programming that is inclusive to all learners and relevant through hands-on, minds-on learning to promote educational and social-emotional skills and learning. Funding to develop and implement custom Denver Broncos STEM program.

Sims-Fayola Foundation: The Sims-Fayola Foundation works to improve the life outcomes and experiences of young men and boys of color. Funding to support and expand the Empowerment Zone diversion programming for justice-involved youth.

Sun Valley Youth Center: The Sun Valley Youth Center empowers youth ages 5-21 living in the Sun Valley neighborhood to reach their potential. Funding to support afterschool and summer programming focused on academic interventions and hands-on learning experiences.

The Urban Farm: The Urban Farm provides the opportunity for urban youth to engage and participate in local food and agricultural systems by removing the barriers to entry. Funding to support Cultivating Change diversion and career pathways programming for justice-involved youth.

Vera Institute of Justice: The Vera Institute of Justice is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the justice system by advancing equity, reducing incarceration, and improving access to justice for marginalized communities. Funding to support its Restoring Promise initiative, which seeks to transform prison cultures, climates, and spaces by partnering with correctional leaders to reimagine housing units for young adults ages 18-25 and realign corrections policies and practices with a commitment to hum
